Lingerie – Not Just Her Gift
Buying lingerie for a woman is clearly not only buying her a gift, but it can be a gift for the man as well. Think about it, when a man gives lingerie to a woman, he gets something out of it in return. This is of course, as long as it’s in the right style and granting that the man doesn’t make the worst mistake of all… buying the wrong size! However, if the gentleman puts some thought and effort into the gift, he and his lady will both reap the rewards.
Many men start off making one big mistake, purchasing lingerie they feel is sexy without any thought as to what she may find sexy. They later find themselves utterly flabbergasted when she finds the lingerie detestable and refuses to wear it. Let’s take a look at thongs. Most men love them. Women either love them or hate them. Thong sales only make up a small percentage of the lingerie industry’s sales (and most of these are probably gifts from men). Remember, the gift is about her, but if you get her what she likes, you may get your “gift” too.
To purchase a successful lingerie gift a man has to think about the woman for whom he is purchasing this gift. What part of her body does she feel is her best feature? Whatever this is, purchase her something that emphasizes that feature. If she feels her bust is her best feature, a bustier or corset could be the way to go. A babydoll or chemise could be the way to go for someone who likes their legs. Whatever part of her body she’s happiest with, there’s lingerie out there to highlight that area.
Another important factor in purchasing lingerie is the color. You need to take into account the hair color of the woman you’re purchasing lingerie for. Blondes tend to look best in lighter colors or pastels. While brunettes tend to look better in darker colors; purples, reds, and dark greens work well. Redheads also need a dark color. However, it must be complimentary to their hair and skin tone. Greens and blues usually work best for redheads.
Now that we’ve got the look down, it’s time to deal with the texture. Yes, texture is very important in a successful lingerie purchase. Easy rule of thumb, if you like to touch it, she’ll like to wear it. Satins and silks are usually a good gamble because they are soft and smooth to the touch. When shopping online, it’s best to purchase a fabric you’re familiar with.
Purchasing the perfect style, color, and texture won’t be worth a hill of beans if you make the worst mistake of them all: purchasing the wrong size. Holding up your hands to an imaginary pair of breasts to guess her cup size simply will not do. You just got to know the actual size she wears for the garments you want to purchase her before even looking for lingerie. The simplest way to get this (yet not very sneaky) is to ask her. However, you’ll probably have to play sleuth. Take a peak at some of her existing garments and notate the size (make sure it’s something she still wears so you know it fits). Do this while she’s at spin class, in the shower, whenever you get a moment. Whatever you need to do, get the right size!
Lingerie can be one of the most personal and rewarding gifts that anyone could receive (or give). When the receiver’s likes, wants, and needs are taken into consideration it can be a gift that “keeps on giving” like no other gift you could possibly give. However, if you purchase something that you like not considering the likes, dislikes, or needs of whom you’re buying for it can backfire. Lingerie should be a gift that is thought of fondly, so be sure to purchase something that she would actually want to wear. That way, you’ll also wind up getting something that you enjoy seeing her wear (and hopefully take off). |
